Your Guide

Otis Dempsey, Dempsey as he likes to be called, has lived on
Grand Lake since 1992, but has been fishing on
the Grand for over 30 Years. While growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
he knew that fishing was what he always
wanted to do. Coming here as a boy with his uncle, whom owned
lake property, fishing with a cane pole and
a cork bobber, he never got Grand Lake out of his system. If you
couldn't find Dempsey, all you had to do was
to go to the waters edge and somewhere nearby he would be. Ask
Dempsey to tell you the story of when he
was a boy, putting 2 car hoods together to make a boat, and the
sheriff's department being called to look for
him, because he was nowhere to be found. Today he uses the
latest technology in fishing equipment, including
his own designed jugs for catfish fishing, and the newest 2006
Predator bay boat with the most efficient 2006
Evinrude E-Tec 225 HP motor, Lowrance fish finder and a
multitude of new equipment, a long ways from a
cane pole, cork bobber and 2 car hoods.

Dempsey fished for many years on Lake Keystone, winning
back to back annual striper tournaments, and other
surrounding Tulsa lakes, but was always drawn back to Grand
Lake. The beauty, serenity and, of course, the
fishing, no other lake could out do.
He is married to Cheryl, whom he met at Grand
Lake, has 5 children and 14 grand children. The Grove area is
home now with a successful business in surplus store. He has
ventured in numerous businesses in the area,
including a used car business, retail furniture, pawn shop,
landscaping and lawn maintenance, but his life long
dream is to fish. An outdoors man he is and always will be.
The dream has now come true and fishing is
what he does. Bass fishing is his favorite, the feel of the bite,
the
action and the catch, just the thrill of bass fishing, but all
varieties are his enjoyment as long as he is fishing.
Dempsey is on the lake, if at all possible, daily and keeps
up with where the fish are, which ones are biting,
which bait is most successful and is not afraid to talk to anyone
and and tell them what is going on in regards to
the lake and fishing. Just ask him anytime or anywhere,
hopefully you have an abundance of spare time and a
good listening ear.

If you enjoy someone singing to you, with a
good voice, telling you jokes and making you laugh, then a fishing
trip with Dempsey should be on your agenda.
No one will work harder for you and we're
going to have fun.
